Diana Forbes (b.1985) is a painter and a mixed media collage artist, working in painting, collage and printmaking.

Currently living and working in Oxfordshire, UK, she is entirely self-taught, having transitioned from a corporate career. Her work attempts to capture memories as it moves between the abstract and figurative. Her paintings contain a movement, with the subject carrying a sense of energy. The subject is drawn from observation of botanical landscapes or drawings are made in the studio from seasonal still life. Her works repeats visual motifs, embodying the simplicity of everyday organic shapes. Colourful botanical works invite the viewer into Diana's garden. The works feature cut-paper Japanese collage, giving the surface a translucency of the colours similar to light filtering through flower petals whilst adding layers of texture. Botanicals are rendered simplistically rather than capturing their defined features. Printmaking adds another layer to Diana’s work, giving freedom of mark making, leaning into the unknown outcome of Monotypes. Colour is in the forefront of all her work and Diana finds constant inspiration from the countryside and nature around her home. Intuitive, bold strokes, fine marks and textural layers, as well as a strong focus on collage are central to Diana’s collections. Diana’s works are collected in the UK and internationally.
