Max is an artist, illustrator and designer. After training as a dancer and subsequently a costume designer and working for years in London, he is now based in his home county of Somerset. 

 

Max was trained at The Rambert School and London College of Fashion, before embarking on a career in theatrical costume design that led him to work at The Royal Opera House, The National Theatre and many other prestigious theatrical establishments around the UK. 

 

Since 2020, Max has been focussing on his own works as an artist and illustrator, drawing inspiration from his hours of rooting through costume stores, historical artifacts, myth, folklore and mysticism and his love of living in the Somerset countryside. Max tries to imbue a theatricality, playfulness and often a sense of the mysterious or other-worldly in all his work.
