Earth, gathering and craft. Claire’s work brings these themes together in the form of sculptural ceramics and paintings.
Her work expresses a naïve freedom. It’s a place where bold, bright, colours are used to celebrate, and reflect on, nature. Mother nature has always been the driving force behind her work; producing colourful, dream-like patterns and always honouring the beauty of its cycles and seasons. Whether using paints or clay made from the land around us, each piece is created with thoughtful, conscious, expression at its heart.
Raised in rural Gloucestershire, surrounded by woods and valleys, Claire grew up learning and respecting the daily, monthly and seasonal phases of nature. This has, and continues to, inform her practise.
Claire studied Printed Textiles at Leeds College of Art and now lives in East London.
